These 11 young ladies are Angel Street’s Crew.
As Executive Director @rasmith1086 shared, “Being a part of this group means you’re more committed than anyone else, you are willing to get out of your comfort zone more, and you are challenged more.”

Dear My Town,

Two Thursdays ago, I had one of my favorite days of the year, thanks to you.

It started early and ended late, but I didn’t mind one bit. It was More Than A Meal: My Town’s Thanksgiving Initiative Delivery Day, and through the support of several generous donors alongside the servant-minded faculty, students, and families of Christ Methodist Day School and Evangelical Christian School, 34 incredible girls and their families were surprised with everything they needed to prepare a Thanksgiving meal together.

Because of My Town, Thanksgiving truly was More Than A Meal.

This year, we focused on Angel Street in North Memphis’ Bickford neighborhood, and while we were physically present with them only for a few hours, CMDS’s Bible classes had been praying over these specific girls and their families for the whole month. From 15-pound turkey gift cards to pots, pans, and other cookware essentials to all the ingredients and the recipes for some of the most delicious sides, the Angel Street families were not just simply fed for one holiday; My Town gave them the tools to create memories and meals for every day after, too.

The day was packed fuller than the food boxes!! During the morning, CMDS buzzed with excitement as students brought in spatulas, spices, colanders, and more! Several younger students grimaced under the weight of pots, pans, and bags of sugar, while others proudly carried in cutting boards, can openers, and potato mashers. When the CMDS Alumni {now attending ECS} arrived to assist, a beautiful collaboration ensued. Watching kindergarteners through 12th graders work together, decorating and filling the boxes with Bible verses, encouraging notes, and food, was a moment I’ll never forget.Later, during lunchtime at ECS, you could have heard a pin drop as seniors carefully triple-checked each box to make sure every single family had what they needed.

200 Memphis families were invited to hand pick produce & Thanksgiving ingredients and fellowship with the @memgrizz players, coaches and staff.
